In recent years, Serbian workers have faced a dramatic decline in their living standards.
The decline in living standards is a consequence of nominal and real wages lagging behind the growth of consumer prices. The increase in prices has been driven by a number of new policy measures that exerted strong pressure on aggregate demand – rising regulated prices, higher food prices, as well as increases in value-added tax (VAT) and excise duties.
