FED povećali kamatnu stopu na 0,75% (za 0,25 procentnih poena), što je tek prvo povećanje u ovoj godini i drugo povećanje u poslednjih deset godina, uz izražena očekivanja da će u 2017. godini biti tri povećanja. Na ovakvu odluku, kako se navodi se u saopštenju, oticali su performanse ekonomije – povećanje broja novih radnih mesta, smanjenje nezaposlenosti i trend rasta cena (prema targetiranih 2%), porast potrošnje domaćinstva, blagi rast zarada. Svi su izgledi da će kamatna stopa još duži period vremena ostati na niskom nivou, jer su ekonomski izgledi neizvesni. Monetarne vlasti će nastaviti sa labavom monetarnom politikom do normalizacije kamatnih stopa.

There is every possibility that the interest rate will remain at a low level for an even longer period of time, because the economic outlook is uncertain. The monetary authorities will continue with a loose monetary policy until the normalization of interest rates.
